Lots has happened over the past month. I know I’ve talked about time here on the blog. Just looking back over the past week I’m back to thinking time flies, but at least thinking about the last month I see what I’ve accomplished. Things have been busy.
I waited a long time for my copies of Enough Grace to Make Things Right to arrive. Many of my friends and family wanted copies so I was ready with a plan to get them out. I was keeping great track of where they all went until I took a bunch up to the retreat last weekend. Now I count three, still sealed, boxes… that should be 144 books, that need to find a home. If you’d like a copy of Enough Grace to Make Things Right, please email me your address and it will be on its way. And when you’ve read it please send me off an email to tell me what you think.
I was busy getting ready for a ladies’ retreat for the whole month leading up to September 24th. Have you ever been to summer camp? The summer I turned eighteen I was at four different camps as a counsellor. I was glad to have found Forest Cliff, a year earlier. It’s a wonderful place on Lake Huron in what is now Lambton Shores. This past weekend (it’s fifty years later) some women gathered at Lambton Centre, a camp just down the road from FCC. Fifteen years ago a group of former counsellors, campers and staff from FCC Girls’ Camp had our first retreat/reunion. Through the years our retreat has grown and changed. This year about half of the attendees had never been campers or counsellors at FCC . As newcomers have arrived every year, most have found that they belong. It’s good to be away from the outside world. It’s good to breathe in that fresh air. It’s good to sit and talk with friends and fellowship together. We weren’t able to meet last year because of the pandemic.
This year we were so happy to be together again we didn’t mind the masks and distancing and different dining hall rules. Some key people weren’t able to be at camp so I did a lot of the before camp work…. like planning meals and activities and shopping. It was amazing at camp though. Everyone pitched in to help and I found myself with loads of time to talk and visit with friends new and old. Lots of laughing, lots of praying, lots of sharing. Maybe we should plan a spring retreat too!
I’m going to leave you with an oldie, Hope you have some forever friends.
