Tuesday, September 07 by End of Day
The books are on their way to my house. By midnight, (hey, they said the end of the day right?) on Tuesday six boxes should be piled in my living room. I’m figuring they can’t be very big boxes … maybe 20″ by 12″. I’m quite pleased they are scheduled to arrive. (Actually I am very excited.)
My friend Anne ordered two copies from Indigo last week and they arrived very quickly. I was glad to hear that, because I wondered if my copies were ever going to come… like – maybe no printed copies exist. Although I know they do. Some of you have seen my proof copy. Apparently they are “out of stock” on Amazon. I hope that’s a good sign.
So more talk about the book. You’ve seen the cover. I was a long time deciding on a title. There are many themes running through the story and I needed a title that would touch them all. I don’t know about other book writers but I read my manuscript over, and over and … (you get the picture) … On one of those many times I was stopped short in the middle of chapter eight. I had found my title.
I believe it is one of the best parts of the book as three generations of a family pulled apart by discord, and even abuse, come face to face with the present. After a violent altercation Joe Parker’s uncle (Jay), confronts his brother (JJ) with the words: “This could be a new start for all of us. There’s enough grace in this family to make things right.” I can’t help but think that more grace, both God’s grace and the grace we give each other, would go a long way in making things right in all our relationships.
Besides the title on the cover, you’ll see a wonderful painting of a clenched fist with the word PAIN tattooed across the fingers. I’m very thankful to Regan Thomson for composing this piece of art. It’s the hand of a real person. In the story Joe has lived with his pain for a long time.
If you’ve told me you want a copy of the book and haven’t sent me your contact info, please send your address (for shipping or local delivery) or your phone number to arrange pick up.
